I attempted
to draw my face today. I say 'attempted' because asking me to draw any kind of face is pushing your luck. Asking me to actually make that face resemble mine is just laughable.
I wish I could draw well. I consider drawing a talent, not something to be learnt, rather like singing and sports. I suspect I will be wishing I can draw for a very long time. People say you can learn to draw, but aren't these people the very ones who produced artistic scribbles from the first time they picked up a pencil?
I envy people who can draw because it's another way of expressing yourself, only without words. It's funny, because I love putting words together. But I would love to be able to express myself without words, with pictures which actually mean something other than random doodles and the occasional flower. Sometimes I think art is a clearer form of communication – universal in a way language can never be. Just as words can be subtle and layered, so can art. And if you're lucky, lines, shapes and colours merge to take your breath away.Labels: everyday
