What a rush.

Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt need no introduction. They are the ones getting people excited; making headlines and making the Olympics into a spectacle. I watched Michael Phelps win by 0.01 seconds; I watched Usain Bolt win effortlessly: this is style.

Roger Federer and Lin Dan. Top class athletes at the top of their games. I wonder how it feels to know you are the best in the world?

I am not sure what is happening between Russia and Georgia, but here are two athletes upholding the Olympic message of peace and respect. Paderina Natalia of Russia and Nino Salukvadeze of Georgia share the podium in the air pistol event, a day after the Georgia Olympic team considered pulling out due to conflict between Georgia and Russia. Why wage war when you can do what these two did: look beyond and rise above?

German weightlifter Matthias Steiner with his gold medal and a picture of his late wife Susann. He did it for her - he made her a promise that he would continue the Olympic dream and - here he is. He wept on that podium. The world wept with him.

Natalie du Toit swam 10km in open water and created history as the first amputee to qualify for the Olympics. She did so entirely on merit, which means she is among the top in the world of marathon swimmers. Even without one leg. What can you do but salute her tenacity?

Lee Chong Wei! National top badminton player, torch bearer and Olympic silver medallist. Soon to be a Datuk but really should stay away from politics as he looked very, very lost sitting in on a
ceramah. Malaysian hero.
I'm sure there are a thousand other stories of Olympic spirit and the joy of it is that there will be many many more as we look ahead to
London Olympics 2012!***
Do you think other people know where Malaysia is?
...
That piece of land above Singapore!
Wait. Isn't that Bangkok?
(paraphrased from Jason and Kevin haha)
